This 7,590 square foot hangar lease at Draughon-Miller Central Texas Regional Airport will allow Kachemak Bay Flying Service to conduct aviation training and provide commercial aviation operations while delivering the airport’s key requirement of providing transient aircraft parking services. The services provided by KBFS represent a broad spectrum of general and specialized support to the Central Texas aviation community.

“Transient aircraft parking is a service that has been needed at our airport for some time now and is an expected service in the aviation industry. This will allow our flying customers to hangar their aircraft overnight. On any given day, we have several aircraft from single engine to large multi-million dollar jets landing at our airport to do business in our city. For those staying overnight, they want a hangar to protect their investment. Some have landed at our airport, dropped off their passengers and flew elsewhere to hangar their aircraft overnight. This is not only an inconvenience to our customers, but lost revenue for the city. Our goal everyday is to provide the best in service to our customers and adding this new business and service facility will do just that,” states Sharon Rostovich, Airport Director.
The hangar became available for lease once the newly developed corporate hangar area was completed and McLane Company moved into their new hangar facility relinquishing their existing hangar to the city.
The airport will receive $12,000 annually in rental revenue. In addition, the airport will benefit from increased aircraft traffic and fuel sales.
“Kachemak Bay Flying Service (KBFS) appreciates very much the opportunity to provide additional services to aviation customers at the Draughon-Miller Central Texas Regional Airport,” said KBFS General Manager Gary Chambless. “Our parent company, System Studies and Simulation (S3) has been a tenant on the airport renting space from Summit Aviation for nearly a decade. As we have grown in capabilities over the past several years, we have been searching for an opportunity like this hangar in the local area that could help us better perform our contracts with the US Army at Fort Hood, and more importantly, facilitate even greater expansion into commercial aviation training, maintenance, and logistic services.”
S3 Chief Executive Officer, Jan Smith, reiterated Chambless’ remarks and expressed her sincere appreciation to the City of Temple for this selection and to the managers at Draughon-Miller Airport for the outstanding relationship S3 has enjoyed with Central Texas over the past decade. S3 is a Woman-Owned Defense Company headquartered in Huntsville, AL performing work for government and commercial customers in 16 states and overseas.
“We are thrilled to have Kachemak Bay Flying Service join our Airport community and look forward to a mutually profitable business arrangement,” states Rostovich.
